Located in northeast Washington, DC, the hospital is a leader in providing highly effective care for children with complex medical conditions and disabilities.
We hope to see you on Saturday March 28th for a fun filled morning for kids of all ages.
Please bring a package of diapers for donation!
Tutus and Tushies is a concept started by Premier owner and mother of two, Wanda Weir.
Wanda has shared her journey into motherhood on her blog cupcakeandtutus since the birth of her first daughter in 2013.
Fast forward to 2015, Wanda is now a mom to 2 daughters while running two dance companies Premier Dance and Tippi Toes DC.
“I have been searching for a way to give back since I have been very fortunate to do what I love (dance) and still be able to be the primary caregivers for my two girls while affording their basic needs and the little extras as well”.
One day as I was picking out the fun pattern I wanted to order next month for their diaper bundle from Honest Company I thought about the fact that something as simple as diapers is not a given for some families!
The fact that some moms have to make the decision to wash and reuse disposable diapers because they are not covered by WIC or food stamps is not ok with me and I want to do something about it!
According to the DC Diaper Bank, A typical baby needs 10-12 diapers a day and a toddler needs approximately 8 diapers. At a cost of between $100 and $120 a month, diapers are an expense that many families struggle to meet.
Tutus and Tushies is a community event whose purpose is to collect diapers for local area diaper banks. T&T will work with area dance companies and fitness experts to offer free dance and fitness classes that will be open to the public to attend.
We will kick off our inaugural event in early Spring 2015!
Premier will be offering twice a month Sunday sessions aimed at helping you increase your flexibility and improve your endurance!
As dance team members it is crucial to make sure that you are stretching daily and engaging in cardiovascular training at least 3 days a week along with your practices.
The best team members PREPARE for practice, fully PARTICIPATE when in practice and than POLISH what they have learned in practice. Attending outside dance classes, strength training and practicing your technique at home are all things you can do to help make you an outstanding team member.
Remember what you do OUTSIDE of practice is just as important as what you do IN practice!
Our classes will feature ballet barre’ derived strengthening series, stretching drills with weights and cardiovascular circuits created for dancers.
We hope to see you in class!
